McDonald's Rick and Morty Szechuan Sauce Stunt Backfires.


So McDonald decided to bring back It's "Szechuan sauce" for a day over the weekend. But this stunt went horribly wrong when the restaurants across the United States ran out of supply. The condiment first created as part of a 1998 promotion for Disney film "Mulan", became an hot topic online after it was featured in an episode of  "Rick and Morty" earlier this year.

Fans got really upset about the Szechuan sauce and protest at a McDonald restaurant, which cause the police to get involved. Some fans posted on social media to vent their frustrations after being unable to get a taste of the Szechuan sauce. A couple posted that they drove 4 hours at 6am from Canada
for the sauce and didn't get any not even a poster using the hashtag #iwantmymcnuggetsauce.

McDonald later on apologised to fans on social media some saying that wasn't a good apology while others accept it, but McDonald still repeated their warning that the release was going to be 'super limited'.

eBay sellers are now offering framed photos of the McDonald's Szechuan sauce packet. A seller sold almost 20 photos on eBay with one frame costing $9.99. Polygon even reached out to eBay to confirm that the quantities represented on the page were accurate.

The co-creator of  the Adult's Swim hit series Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland told the Washington post this summer, only partly in jest, that while writing the TV series, he has feared angering its millions of hardcore fans.
