Not leaving Grey's Anatomy as yet, but Pompeo will be taking lesser roles.
According to deadline, Ellen Pompeo will only appear in eight episodes of the upcoming 19th season of Grey's Anatomy. However Pompeo will continue to narrate every episode and will remain the executive producer behind the scenes.
Pompeo will be taking on a new role which is being referred to as the "Untitled Orphan Project." "The show is based upon a true story of a Midwestern couple adopts an eight year old child with a rare form of dwarfism. But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, they slowly start to believe she may not be who she says she is," Variety stated. "As they question her story, they're confronted with hard questions of their own about the lengths they're willing to go to defend themselves, falling into a battle that's fought in the tabloids, the courtroom, ultimately their marriage."
Pompeo plays Meredith in the hit medical drama series Grey's Anatomy and is arguably the best character in the show. Many viewers and bloggers titled Pompeo as the glue that holds the show together. But it is unclear whether season 19 will be her final season of Grey's Anatomy.
