Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan to star in new ‘Karate Kid’ movie
“The global search for the star of our new film starts right now,” Macchio said in an announcement video alongside Jackie Chan.
On Tuesday, Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan announced they’ll be starring together in an upcoming Karate Kid movie and are currently looking for a new teen to play the role in which Macchio played in 1984 and Jaden Smith in the 2010 reboot that co-starred Jackie Chan.
It is great to see that Macchio and Chan are bringing their ‘Karate Kid’ worlds together into one movie. Which will be in theaters on December 13, 2024.
“We’re starring in a new ‘Karate Kid’ movie together,” Macchio said.
“That is big news,” Chan said in the video, before they announced a global search for the new young star of the upcoming film.
The Karate Kid launched in 1984, with the original movie being an unexpected hit. Ralph Macchio plays Daniel LaRusso, a Brooklyn kid who moves to California and finds himself an unlikely karate champion under the teaching of Mr. Miyagi, an old apartment handyman who is also a karate master. Miyagi was played by the late Pat Morita.
